Worldly Desire, & The Lotus

From the moment you are born you’re trained to want more, but you already have everything. Desire of worldly possessions is created from the constant feed of video, image and sound shaping your mind.

Self-worth has attached itself to the title you hold at work, your level of education, and your scale of attractiveness. Those who desire this fabricated sense of “self-worth” will trade years of precious life for a prestigious title. They will go into debt & spend more precious years of life to pay it off. They will mutilate their body to look more appealing and slowly they will lose all sense of joy. Their love becomes fear of loss. Anxiety becomes the baseline and they need a pill or vice to keep it all together.

Walk this path of desire and now you’ve become a job title, a mental diagnosis, a political party, etc., but these are all concepts that can not be held. You are not a concept. You are an animal with the ability to think and create unlike any other animal, and that was hijacked from you. You can create any idea that comes to mind in the physical world when you sit down and think, but do you spend time thinking or do you spend time distracted and consumed? Most roam from place to place filling their time with distractions blocking any chance of thought.

Notice how when you drive in silence you think freely of seemingly random topics, but when there is music you can only think of lyrics and what those lyrics provoke you to think. No other animal holds the capability of creation as we do, yet we would rather “take a break from life” to watch mindless videos, listen to noise, & play video games, blocking all chances of original thought.

If you feel terrible day in and day out— as if your heart is constantly sunken and anxiety is the baseline —do not ask “what do I need to take to feel better?”, but instead ask “what do I need to stop taking to feel better.” For just a moment stop entertaining yourself with music, videos, and junk food. Sit in silence with no external stimulation and listen to your own thoughts. Start creating more and consuming less.

Everyday we let worldly desire reshape our soul. It makes us do things we would otherwise not do. Institutions have mastered psychological warfare and they use it to influence our thoughts everyday. Become aware of the war for your soul and protect yourself.

We used a lotus in this tapesrtry design because it's a powerful symbol in many cultures, often representing purity, spiritual enlightenment, and detachment from worldly desires. These meanings align well with the phrase "Desire nothing," as the lotus grows out of mud but remains unstained, symbolizing the ability to rise above earthly attachments and achieve a state of peace and clarity.

An imaoge of a black tapestry with a red lotus flower & the phrase "Desire Nothing" written in white ink

Desire nothing, but the life happening in front of you.

Let this wall tapestry serve as a daily reminder to protect your soul from wordly desire.
